Attendance Policy

Attendance Policy Overview

Attendance & Legal Obligations
Ensuring steady school attendance is a shared duty among the school district, students, and parents/guardians. In accordance with Nevada State Law (NRS 392.040), any person having legal custody of a student is required to send them to school for the entire duration of each instructional day. Regular attendance is expected of every enrolled student.
Punctuality & Campus Privileges
Unexcused tardiness interrupts classroom instruction and undermines learning for everyone. Students are expected to arrive at every class on time, every single day.

Excused Absences & Absence Limits

Clearing an Absence

Authorized Approvals: Only primary contacts listed in Infinite Campus are authorized to clear student tardies or absences.

  • Time Limit: Absences must be cleared within three (3) school days following the student's return. Unexcused absences past this deadline automatically become truancies.
  • Medical Documentation: For excessive absences or tardies, official documentation (such as a physician's note) will be required. If documentation is not turned in within three days of return, the absence will remain unexcused.

Unexcused Absence Limits & DMV Certification

  • 7-Absence Cap: To align with our schedule, students should not exceed seven (7) total absences per semester.
  • Loss of Credit & Driving Privileges: Accumulating eight (8) or more absences leads to direct loss of course credit. Furthermore, school officials will not sign the DMV-301 form, preventing the student from securing or keeping a Nevada instruction permit or driver's license.
