Distance Learning Expectations & Resources

Online Check-In Policy Philosophy

Distance learning days are instructional days, not days off. Engagement is just as critical online as it is in the physical classroom. This policy ensures students maintain a structured routine on distance days, allowing our staff to verify student academic participation in real-time.

The Distance Check-In Procedure

  • The Expectation: On distance learning days, students must log into the school's Learning Management System (LMS) and complete their designated "Daily Attendance Check-In" anytime between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. If the student fails to check in for the day, they will be marked “absent.” Students lose credit for any class where they have accumulated 8 unexcused absences.

Check In Procedures

Progressive Supports Scale

1. The Reminder
2. Student demonstrates to a staff member that hey know how to check in for distance learning. Parent/Guardian contact.
3. Administration contacts parent/guardian.
4. Mandatory parent conference + Review of attendance contract + Possible assignment of synchronous sessions + Possible revocation of distance days.

The student will sign a contract. If online check-ins are missed again, the student may lose the privilege of the hybrid schedule and be required to attend school fully in-person for a set period of time ranging from assigned flex Mondays to in-person attendance every day so staff can monitor their attendance directly and provide supports.
